Just wondered what people's experiences are with using tablets for reading chess books using interactive chess apps and playing games... Did you find an ideal screen size or brand or spec? What are your experiences?

I only play chess.com on my iPad Air 2. Awesome!

Have you tried any of the chess book publisher apps?

All_Exceed

Scribd and Kindle are some of my favourites. I have bought quite a few books in my Mi pad.

No I mean, gambit, new in chess, Everyman publishers and so on, have interactive apps, by which I mean, you can buy books through the app and they have a interactive board that plays through moves when you click on moves in the book

I have one and the only problem is that I can't play live tournaments on CC

Forward Chess on Android. The book selection is decent. Many opening repertoire books. Many excellent strategy books. A couple classic endgame books, including Dvoretsky endgame manual. Also includes about seven Informant editions. The operation of the app is excellent, with interactive boards and move by move. You can even copy a given board position to clip board and analyze it with another app like Analyze This Pro, or SCID, for example, in which case I have Stockfish 6 and Komodo 9.3. Overall it's a great app. Occasionally you need to reload a page or book to clear the cache from glitching the move by move. It's a free download, with a couple sample books so you can really give it a thorough review.

I think Everyman publisher App is the most useful. Besides the books you can use with it, you can add your own custom PGN games and it will play through them as you would a book.Forward chess is very good, but not as open ended as the Everyman App.
