Tactical patterns: the pin

Hello,

I have already posted a video about the fork last week. Now my last video is about the pin, and how you can take advantage of it. I have also put several quizzes to help you grasp the concept of pin:

Feedbacks are welcome, I hope you will like it.

I didn't watch the whole video, but it's the chess board that should be the focus (i.e., the largest thing on the screen), not your face.

And then the board gets even smaller at around the 3-minute mark...

This kind of thing may certainly be helpful to beginners.

I'd say get rid of your face altogether - the reason is that the chess board and what you're saying is the important part, and so just put in the important parts.

thanks for the feedback. The reason of this format is that there are some annotations below the chessboard and I wanted to include them in the video (like in the screenshot of that video above, the answers to the quiz are displayed).

But indeed it would be interesting to get rid of everything that is below the chessboard, in order to increase the size of the chessboard. I will re-edit the next video to follow that suggestions.

@human-in-training: the reason I make it smaller (not permanently) is to display the moves at the bottom of the screen, but I understand it is not that useful ?

Thanks for the feedbacks anyway, you can subscribe to my mailing list here to be notified of new videos: http://eepurl.com/MqmI5

@ Grumly:

The annotations below the chessboard are just fine, and they are plenty useful -- no need to get rid of them.

The problem is that they are so small that it is difficult to read them in some formats because the video of your face is taking up half (and sometimes more than half) of the screen -- remember that not everybody will be watching this full-screen and/or on a large desktop monitor.

If you want to keep yourself on-screen, that's fine, but make sure that the board and the annotations take precedence -- maybe restrict your face to 1/4 of the screen, and maybe you can put the annotations on the side of the board, thereby allowing you to make the board larger.

Otherwise, i enjoyed your video and think it was very well made -- i encourage you to continue making them.  Your English is good and i think what you're doing will help many to learn the game.

I will check out your app and other videos.

Take care.

thanks for the feedback.

I have changed the format of the chessboard on my next video about the skewer. I got rid of the annotations because they are below the chessboard on the screen capture.

I guess I could add them again below my face, with a little bit of editing, but I am under the impression that if my live explanations are correct, the viewer should not need to read additional explanations. Anyway, that's a work in progress so I am ready to change my mind.

And here is the video by the way:
