Tactics correct vs. incorrect BULLCRAP!

when you nail the tactics quizzes correctly and get like +7 even if it was a more complex multi move puzzle. but if you make a mistake even if you make it half way through or majority way through the puzzle they give you -14. seems lop sided. anyway, I think its total bullcrap. why punish so harshly for mistakes but reward so little for success. seems like both should be graded equally. honestly is a deterrent for me continuing doing them if they aren't going to be judged fairly. just venting. any insight?

I will give you the usual answer.

Whats important is the learning, not the rating.

With your logic, everyone would finally end up with '0' rating.🤔😄

Cos you said

every right answer =+7,

every wrong answer=-14

Total= negative trend.

Who need to learn math?

it was an example, not an absolute. I don't think you understood what I was saying.

@drmrboss your logic is flawed. It only means your rating will stabilise when your solved to failed ratio is 2:1 (i.e. 67% solving accuracy).
Of course this may happen at a rating greater than 0.

well, for me it is simple. Since two days I don't see any tactics anymore. Only an empty page. sad.png

He understood but found a mistake in your opening and took advantage of it.

btw I agree that tactics here are nonsense and haven’t used them for almost a year, because of that. The tactics trainer used to be pretty good, but they changed it, while trying to improve it and ended in this crap

tactical training is like going to school  you can learn some tricks and some strategic tools

but we really learn on the battlefield  we grow as we take chances - we win and we lose

we are victorious in playing the game - ratings are ok and cool sometimes however a powerful attack with a solid pawn structure just feels good win or lose we grow we improve and our mind expands in time and space as the relationship of strategic competition rises and sometimes falls - we win just by being a player.... a warrior.... and sometimes a survivor...............

it can be about dynamic thinking

to be free to move without any hesitation without any preconceived notions

when you release the thoughts that you must win or need to win or you must castle or if you lose you are less than   when you can jump leap dive into something new and interesting and maybe even exciting you enter another realm of competition

the mainstream disappears and the unexpected comes out of fearless imagination to awaken sleeping brain cells its kamikaze chess and guess what things dont always go well for the kamikaze pilot sometimes things end badly but atleast a wall has been crumbled a seed is planted and a flower of desolation grows out of the ashes

If it looks interesting go for it   if you get into trouble fight your way out of it  or dye trying  the result will be new horizons to jump leap dive into you may lose sometimes but so what you will have some fun trying and you will be a better person and someday a smarter chess player

Chess...punishes harshly. Just because you make the right move, doesn’t mean you win the game. And one mistake can end it.

As for time? The faster you solve, the more points you get. In live chess, you only win the game if you find the right moves before the clock runs out.

I find the tactical trainer actually more generous than live chess. If I take my time to solve most of them correctly the small point gains add up, I learn, I get tougher puzzles, and my rating is consistently 200-300 points higher than my live rating.

It’s all in how you use the tool.
