Tactics vs actual games

This is probably a basic and foolish question but... how am I supposed to be able to solve 1600+ rated tactics, but not being able to play even near to that level? Is that something normal in chess, or am I just not thinking enough in my games? Im just curious, you know, for me this will never stop being fun and that stuff but I just want to understand this.

Thanks!

Ratings aren't an absolute measure like distance or mass. Rating are relative to the pool of participants.

Also the average rating can greatly depend on where the organization (website, national federation, etc) chooses to set the average.

Alprad Elo (the progenitor of the rating system) originally selected 1500 as average, but this is arbitrary. You can select 10,000 or -100, or square root of 2, it makes no difference.

So now you know that comparing your tactics rating to live or "daily" ratings is inappropriate. The same applies for OTB (over the board) ratings.
