Not projecting: I had about as good a childhood as anyone could possibly imagine. I traveled all over the world and my dad treated me like a princess. I just think Coolout says dumb things and I keep hoping he will close his account. But anyway, I wasn't referring to Coolout specifically when I was talking about broken childhoods. I was using "you" in the generic sense.

This is not Coffee Chess. Those people know each other and the ribbing is good-natured. Notice that they are much kinder to children and people that they don't know. The ONLY time they ramp up the trash talking is when the opponent gives it back. Online people are just monsters because don't have to look someone in the face. The vast majority of "trash talking" takes the form of just ugly insults or losers being sour and spiteful.
The ONLY time it's appropriate to trash talk is when you know the person and know that they'll be okay with it; otherwise, you're just being a bumbaclot.
When the Botez sisters were travelling the world the weeks before the WCC and getting people to trash talk with them, did you consider them monsters?
They have to sell their product somehow... Who would watch them if they just played and didn't talk? However, they don't really come across as experienced trash talkers... So I doubt they have done that a lot with the cameras off.

I will for sure if the other person is okay with it, ill check out their vibe and see if they get flustered. When I play people over the board i love when they talk smack and get popped in the mouth metaphorically. I suppose alot of people let their play do the talking.
it depends. In casual blitz I run my mouth to no end. Not even really hard stuff- just a lot of passive aggressive smack. Like my opponent makes a move, and I'd immediately say "thanks for playing that". Or maybe "thanks for the free weakness".
I might nudge them in the wrong direction. "Do you want my pawn? I'm sure you want my pawn. Why don't you take my pawn?" I would drawl it out while reclining in my chair in a monotone voice.
But I only do it with people I know.

First of all I watch many channels that just play and don't talk a popular one is called "CFN Channel". They also sell merch. And on coffee chess they act how many people in the park would act man. Think of it like playing poker. They've probably been playing like that most of their lives and they are pretty good at it. Only a sensitive eggshell is going to take it too seriously. The kids who play with them love it. Its fun.
I prefer the CFN channel too, but I guess there is a reason why BotezLive has 25 times more subscribers. And well, I wasn't talking about Coffee chess, but about the Botez sisters. Whenever they attempt to talk trash, it sounds like they are playing the role of someone who likes to talk trash because it is expected. Sounds way more authentic when players like Dina Belenkaya do it...
