Hi!

I'm looking for a manual for Tandy 1650 computerized chess. It's nowhere to be found on the Internet. Perhaps somebody could scan & share.

Many thanks!

Did you really do a search? It sure looks like there are multiple possibilities.

Tandy 1650 Fast Response is a different model altogether.

Fixya.com redirects to a no longer existing site.

Show me the manual if you can find it and I'll take my words back happy.png

The only useful info that I came across was a YouTube comment:

It seems to look identical to the Scisys Travel Sensor. Could they be the same? I know Radio Shack didn't actually make its own chess computers - RS just slapped its name on other manufacturers' stuff.

Eh, they may be different. The Scisys manual says it has 4 levels, and the Tandy info says 9 levels...

Edit - Looks like it's the same as the Scisys Explorer, except the response times of the levels may be different.

They look identical, but they're different. Tandy 1650 computerized chess has this weird button '2nd F', which stands for 'second fucntion' I guess. It's used to set up position and turn on/off the sound (together with 'level' key). It might have other functions too.

Thanks anyway! It's really positive&encouraging that chess.com community does care!

I guess you're right, I couldn't find the manual anywhere on the internet, either. :-(

I even found a Wayback page of Radio Shack manuals, but that model wasn't listed.

I guess there's always eBay, but that would cost some bucks...

Somehow you've made me search yet another time and I've found it !!! Tandy 1650 computerized chess is identical to Scisys Explorer:

https://www.schaakcomputers.nl/diversen/Scisys%20Explorer%20Chess%20English.pdf

It has the same buttons/functions and also '2nd F' button. All the the instructions given in the manual also match! It seems that '2nd F' might also enable 'multi move' function. I have to test it, though.

Many thanks again! Can't describe how happy I am now happy.png

Thanks, bro! Looks like Tandy 1650 and Scisys Explorer are 1:1 clones and I managed to found manual for Scisys some time ago, but I'd like to see if there are no differences. Could you please upload/share?

I know this is an old post so disregard if you found it, but I have the exact manual you’re looking for

I have the Tandy 1650 computerized chess but have lost the manual, so this forum was a great help to get it running.
