your old account's rating  (accordng to your profile) was around 2000 tho. but, yeah, the test isn't that realistic (i'm a 1500 OTB and i scored 2040)

K_Brown

I got a 1595.

I don't know how accurate this is though... it got my rating fairly close but I just did it with a fairly strong computer and got 2290 (I would expect 2800+) I would think a computer would get a higher rating but maybe not. These are the moves that the computer gave:

1..Rxf3

2.Be4

3.c6

4.e6

5.Bc5

6.Bxf6

7..g5

8.Bd8 - The only move I got right. I at least analyzed most of the answers though... feels bad man.

9.Bd4

10..h6

Are there better moves than these? These positions are pretty instructive too.

K_Brown

Are these positions supposed to be hard for computers to get right?

brother7

I got 1800.

I'm USCF 1652 in real life.

Ritobroto21

It is not damn accurate. It gave me 1765 while my FIDE is currently 1192

No way!

happy.png your diagram 10 that is showing on the screenshot. White is preparing to push the pawns on the kingside, you should get your pieces over to the king side to protect, moving the rook does not achieve anything at the moment, it is good placed to defend an attack.

How much does score change?

It goes down to 2010.

1990. daily rating is around 1800, blitz/rapid around 1500. I highly doubt this. Half the time I didnt see anything concrete, just had a hunch there was something there and made the move.

Yep. Same with me. I just noticed some tactics, (or so I thought) but nothing guaranteed. And voila, a 2040 rating! (Later I analysed it with an engine and found out how wrong I was)

something’s wrong! My Elo’s 665
RhythmOfTheKnight0021

I got 2035. Pretty accurate since my USCF is 2055.

JulianProleiko

I got 2631 my USCF is 2283

JulianProleiko

I'm going to assume the target demographic for this test is low-rated players.

There were only a few "hard positions" and those were studies I had already known.

Honestly as nice as it would be to think of myself as 2631, I don't think I or anyone else should take it too seriously.

Try my test, see if it's more accurate or not

JulianProleiko

I got 2310

Though, the rating itself seems more realistic (at least for me) 10 questions seems like a really small sample size.

Also, it should be noted I think a lot of the answers I put could be reached by lower-rated players just by guessing (some not all) and the fact that you only have to provide one move makes it a worse test.

Yay, we got a Ubuntu user! grin.png I use Ubuntu MATE 16.04. Does that happen to be Ubuntu 18.04 LTS? (I haven't kept up with Linux distros lately).

OSes aside, that seems like a massive rating difference! Does the rating difference mean less and less as Elo increases, or does it matter more?

yes, but I was 2000, not 2132. my highest is like 2026 or something

Laskersnephew

Your ELO rating is based on your chess results, not on some inane quiz.
