Go play in FIDE tournaments and you get an ELO... and guess what, THAT'S your ELO!!! No other stupid conversions from a stupid quiz.
It would be nice if there were some kind of test to actually measure your elo. I would agree that the tests here aren't very good I don't really see how this comment adds to the discussion.
Of course the only definitive way to know what your elo is would be to get one. Why on earth would anyone have to qualify that?

On that subject - does FIDE recognize rating based on results from national league competitions, or only from international tournaments?
How high rated must you be to find yourself on an official FIDE rating list with a rating, or is there a different requirement?
