You want to find your "elo" from a stupid quiz? Seriously??? That's ultra low-level....

Go play in FIDE tournaments and you get an ELO... and guess what, THAT'S your ELO!!! No other stupid conversions from a stupid quiz.

On that subject - does FIDE recognize rating based on results from national league competitions, or only from international tournaments?

How high rated must you be to find yourself on an official FIDE rating list with a rating, or is there a different requirement?

It would be nice if there were some kind of test to actually measure your elo. I would agree that the tests here aren't very good I don't really see how this comment adds to the discussion.

Of course the only definitive way to know what your elo is would be to get one. Why on earth would anyone have to qualify that?

This test is super old and the OP is a troll.

IIRC there is no correct answer to #9, plus on #9 the engine's top choice doesn't increase your rating as much as lesser moves.

Also there's always the problem of guessing a move that looks like a tactic or a puzzle move without actually knowing if it's correct. IIRC on some of the puzzles a random sacrifice will at least win you some points, even if it's a bad move.

I scored 1800 on this thing way back when I was maybe 1400 OTB.

Yeah, I agree with all of that (lol because I already said it) but yeah, I'm more interested in the elometer test.

On the other one I got I think 2200 or 2300 when I was 1900 (not so long ago).

But again, sometimes you recognize an opening or position or guess a move so... I don't know...

I always say there's an even better more amazing test to give you an Elo estimate!

Here, it's this link:

The more tools that are out there the better. I could say https://www.chess.com/tactics or https://www.chess.com/puzzles

No no chess.com tactics are the least accurate tactic rating system on any chess website.... in that case an NM is 14,000 rated in tactics...

You've missed the point entirely.

1400+.

Chess.com rating: 900+ Big Difference.

I have tried it many times. I usually retry the test by putting in the "alternative" best move according to me. But I never get past 1500.

My daughter, 6+, got 1150. She learnt the moves a few months ago and can solve elementary checkmates.

How to test Elo rating?

Some people miss the point here.
It's just a rough estimate and according to the honest people here you can say it is pretty accurate. (give or take 100 points or so).
The site never states that it will provide a serious and honest rating. Just an estimate.

Another plus point... (if you don't use some sort of cheat method) is that it makes you think about the situation. You are playing chess and trying to achieve a higher score! All methods do something good. It's just the way you look at it.

Your 480 chess.com Blitz rating is hardly a good benchmark.
