Fischer also Never ducked one
The best chess player ever
André do u think its a fair advantage that karpov could go to any russian Gm and Say i want this position analysed?
How could any soviet Player compete with anyone who could get analysis on his will, and could learn Ten Times more???
And still he wasnt Enough for Fischer
Ok its impossible to answer the question, but for me it will always be Fischer and in My opinionhe Would have besten karpov and kasparov
no knowledge tetsuo ...
fischer avoided it to play karpov and demanded too high exchange , because he was afraid of losing to the new soviet star. Recently , Kasparov said that in a case of a match, in his opinion Karpov would have won. This may be the reason why fischer dropped out and finally anatoly karpov always faced opponents when they were there lol ....
Lol Patrick only if u Twists the fact, Fischer just made usual demands.
Karpov knew he couldnt win so he didnt accept
Spassky said, and it seems to be soundly based speculation, that if Fischer worked hard to remove the rust after foregoing top flight play for a couple of years, the Fischer would have beaten Karpov the first time but in a remaatch Fischer would have lost. One cannot discount Fischer's years of top flight match experience compared to Karpov's at the time of the challenge.

Aaron Nimzowitsch. Sure he wasn't the strongest player of all times, but he has contributed loads of theory for chess. And i haven't seen any of his ideas refuted yet.
Actually, you don't hear much about overprotection nowadays ;). It's still an occasionally useful idea, but not a religion as it was with Nimzowitsch.
Capablanca has to be considered as a very serious contender for the best player ever. And his style of play - clear, elegant, simple and almost always right on point. Fischer or Capablanca!

I rate Steinitz VERY highly. Relative to his time, he was extremely dominant. He won most of his tournaments, and beat everyone in matches until Lasker. Steinitz never ducked anyone and AFAIK never tried to use his WC title to gain an unfair advantage, like others did.
