Personally I don't know what you are talking about, maybe I am too stupid? Would you mind giving an example?

Hanging mate. I am just wondering if there is another way of saying it because when I actually googled "hung mate" it was either something porn related or something in another language. "Hang mate" also turned up nothing.

Did you google "hung male" by mistake?
DO NOT google "hung male" by mistake. Especially at work, with your boss looking.

Hung a mate, hung a mate in n. There are others.

It means that you left yourself open to a checkmate by playing a stupid move instead of defending the king.
"Hang mate" or "he hung mate in 4" is not formal because I can't find that terminology anywhere on the internet though I've heard it used in conversation many times.
I tried googling those terms and there is nothing there. So what is the correct term for hanging mate - that would be used in a sentence?
Apologize if this is not posted in the right forum.
