If I'm a little sleepy it calms me down so I play a bit better.  In any task in which you cannot rigorously calculate every factor, anything you can do to enhance the power of your intuition to contribute to the analysis will help, as long as this advantage is not outweighed by diminishing your rationality more than your intuition is increased.

Thanks Luitpoldt...well spoken there...

I do not play as well but then I do not really care

Anyone play that game where you have to take a shot each time your piece is taken? Would make for a cool Twitch chess show.

I tend to believe the rumors that Alekhine was severely boozed for his first match with Euwe. The skill gap was too large for AA to lose, Alekhine winning the rematch by 6 was more of an accurate representation of their gap in abilities.

Do you mean the game "Sac my Queen!"?  😜

Sometimes I actually play better when I have a little alcohol, like 3-4 drinks, more than that I play worse (I am 230 lbs. and Scoth-English-Irish)....but I'm getting old and it makes it so that my many old sports injuries (that I thought healed but came back as I got older) don't hurt. Also alcohol in small amounts thins the blood and helps with blood flow to the brain.....well that is my theory, rationalization as to why I drink and what it feels like.....but could be delusional.

i like eating fried chicken

one time i saw someone throw a bucket of KFC  (Kentucky Fried Chicken) out of the window of the bus and the bucket spilled all over the middle of the road

maybe the person who threw the bucket was using substances?

i don't know what happened to the chicken because it was gone after  a couple hours

Just went down from 1300 to 1230 cause started new game after 6 beers.
The Just Invented Great Drunk Opening didn't work.
Beer was not cold enough I suppose.

I find alchohol is worthless for chess and just makes me tired and miss things. No good at all.
Crystal meth was awesome, as I could play for hours on end, for a couple days at a time, learning and digesting information at a rate I had never been able to before, simply because if I turned my attention to chess, I could focus on it completely and it was all there was in the world for those hours. Also played equally as well as not high or probably better.
But the best by far is Vicodin or Percocet, or opiods. They make everything so much more fun, chess included, that anything you direct your attention to becomes the most fun thing for the day. In short, it's a cheat code for motivation, and if life were an RPG, would give you a +5 modifier to your motivation, ambition, and spirit stats. Studying chess, where you might not bother before, becomes amazing fun, and you consume a lot more content, and enjoy doing so, and thus improve greatly as a result. So I can't recommend enough opiods, or some crystal in modest amounts if you can get it.
