The final push from 2164 to 2200. Need advice.

Hello everyone, I just hit my peak of 2164 on chesscom rapid and have won 6 of my last 7 games. These games have been more inaccurate with a higher amount of mistakes than usual. My goal is 2200 by the end of this month. I will get there. I am in search of some advice to complete this final push. Advice by good players would be much appreciated.

Thank you!

The higher up you go, the harder it gets since you’re now playing stronger players, so it’s not uncommon to have lower accuracy, especially if it’s the first time you’ve reached this level. It’s also not uncommon to lose a lot of these points as well, don’t be discouraged if that happens, getting into a new rating range and actually staying there are two different things. Think of the ups and downs as learning more skills to stay there consistently.

I was having a hard time breaking 2500 in blitz, I switched from E4 back to D4, played simple symmetrical defenses as black, stopped playing with time increments and finally broke through. It’s harder for me to beat higher levels with E4 and aggressive defense, so I kept it simple and it worked. Not having increments also helped immensely, because who can play solid endgames under time pressure that go on forever? Not saying any of this advice applies to you but It’s helpful sometimes to adjust things for stronger players.
Good luck!

Try to maintain good form, train calculation often and just be consistent with your overall training

You are just nervous, this may cause a slide in accuracy

I would recommend hiding the opponent rating and just focusing on the game

I was 1300 and I went back to 1295 in rapid now I'm 1400

Rapid I have absolutely no idea but for 2100-2220 blitz TAKE FREE STUFF also positional play and keeping pieces on board is good

Switching time controls to no increment is probably the easiest but that also means you can blunder more to do it might hurt if you have a dynamic/chaotic style simple is usually best just improve your position until your opponent bllunders you do kinda have to force it tho at 2200+ or your opponent most likely won't blundrr at all it actually doesn't matter to much if you blunder just try to win or draw anyway you'd be surprised how many swindles you can pull off(honestly it doesn't help that my playing style is pretty aggressive it's not the best in blitz but it's definitely fun to play) but it should be fine in rapid

At your level you should know and not need advice

Elroch

My advice is that you may have had a lucky run! Instantaneous rating at rapid is inherently volatile because of the way the rating system works. Actually at faster time controls too - it just goes up and down quicker because more games are played.

Nonono sir you missunderstand the gap is way wider in 2300-2500 then 800-1000 and it's usually small details to your play that get you there other then "study more "

Well if everyone studies what do you have to do differently then everyone else to break a barrier

Either it's one 1.study more efficiently or more(doing it wrong is sometimes worse then not studying though )2.just be better (the hard part ) 3.make small changes to your play that make it way more difficult to your opponents
