Miles is one of my fav players and he was quite a personality which is not common grandmasters. He was quite a fighter on the board and his unorthodox style was very unique, a fitting replacement for the great but waning larsen.

his early death due to diabetes was a great tragedy to chess. Now with Basmans death, English chess has lost another maverick.

Chess needs more people like Tony. We need to get the word out that T2 diabetes can usually be put into remission.

Thanks for the comments, he did have other medical issues at the end of the day. Thanks for your support. Again if anyone can help me with a chess historical masterpiece please help. In memory of Tony one of the best UK Grandmasters.

real chess lmao, you italians are funny people

i dont know how people can have such a ridiculous attitude to chess in the post kasparov computer era where entire legions of chess propriety has been thrown out the window and ancient relics revived without any human intervention.

Italian?  Can't tell red from orange?  Try again.

P.S. Italians don't know what spaghettios are, and they would probably throw up if you told them.

++ Yes, I once played a tournament where he had such back pain that he had to play lying on a matrass on the floor. He did win the tournament nevertheless.

Ha that is TM as you know. We played many games not competition but in the old days of postal he made time to connect with me usually decided on opening unless he was trying to better an opening for time sake but he was a great person. Negative feedback is okay with sources but he as said thought around the box. Pushing it reminds me of the world champion in unusual moves to get the advantage. Please If unknown to the reader check out his games. Maybe Spassky and Karpov. Can I be able to go there and say a chess crushing opinion. He writes about the feedback from opponents that are 99% positive because of his style. Rip TM died much too young.

Sorry about the edit but let's talk about chess and have total respect for all players. I feel so blessed for the comments from the people that played him as you may have noticed that he could be so laid back he was almost lying down but sometimes with a reason he would not hold back on something he felt strongly about. Just for lulz imagine the reaction to him being on the recieving end of dodgyness. Possible resigned by the move fist to e9 lol joking he was actually very passionate and helped a lot of people with analysis of any level.  Chess needs more people like Tony. Agreed and the fact of the style of game. He was well respected I wish I could quote and quote but worried about legality. First book he gave me was Paul Morphy's little black book but whilst he had a great collection of material his recall was brilliant.

Please anyone carry on with comments from the games you played but please don't forget I just want to let everyone else see them. I'm prepared to upload for free so everyone can enjoy. But I am ignorant of the implications and the players that may take offence to friendly games upped not wanting to it being known a 5 to 0 score. Not all chess players are the same and would have a problem with it. I know TM would not and I am talking about his losses. Would not any chess fan want to read an analysis of the games while edited with laughter, honesty, players, tournaments and a history lesson of back then detailing minute gems that can only come from a player.

Rhizophagous

I'm now twitter people that may be interested really thinking of uploading them also all for free and possibly get sued out of existence. They are really mine I own them but wanted to keep certain things out of the public domain. They should be in a chess museum ha they are absolutely great infant no words can describe how important they are. I'm sure If I was a good professional player I would have the same opinion and totally on board. Sorry I don't think it will work out. ☹️ I can't believe the chess organisations have forgotten Tony not even a little reply in acknowledge receipt of my queries. I assure you the fans and the expert would be greatly surprised and appreciate what I have and what Tony did in recording not just the games but truly a chess history of such information and details that it is a lost treasure. Anyone can I publish free online and still keep a roof over my head? Please help with any advice.

I remember reading about that! I think in one of the old "Chess" magazines that were published in the UK.

I have all of Tony miles notation books with analysis and comments. Comments on the competition, competitors, atmosphere and private friendlies.

Where did you get these from? Perhaps you can trace his next of kin and then you can get the permission you need - you could then self-publish, although you'd need someone to help with the writing I'd guess.

Erm direct but it is rather personal ..... "Uncle Tony" lets leave it there, sensitive. Let us keep it to chess talk . Please don't think on it TM gave them to me but please don't play if no mind. To make it clear they belong to me 🙂 edit I would never sell them and they are the only thing I have that belonged to him. I wish no financial gain only wish is that they could be made public. What I fear is reference to other players. Edit I suppose I need permission from everyone who is in there? Any legal eagles please help! Not even some of TM close friends know that these exist but do know some of the flack he had I don't want to bring any of that up again. The ECF and FIDE could really help me out and maybe come to the conclusion that this is a very special resource.

Just no interest 😕 if I felt confident with quoting from some of the games I'm sure I'd be swamped,or, I'm living in hope and just ONE person will enjoy them. I cannot express enough how good they are!!!

I played in a simul against Tony Miles when I was just a snot nose kid , and I still have game in one of my notation books , which he signed for me . He was a very nice person.
Rhizophagous

Thank you that was Tony all over. Perhaps because he could be brutal but truthful and praise players truthfully some entities would rather not see this in real world. They contain conversation, upsets, greatness but always truth. EDF where are you! Personally even if I was criticized in them I would still see the merits of publication.

Rhizophagous

If anyone would like to see the brilliance of TM I refer you to #2 in the thread.

Woollensock2
Tony was a brilliant GM , but not only as a GM but also as a person .
Rhizophagous

Spot on, kudos to Keene for comments including Tonys now multiply that after much more thought re:#2 in the thread Spassky and Karpov beaten by TM

Rhizophagous

Re: Tony Miles v Spassky 1-0 tell me that was not a brilliant game link in #2 of this thread . Really warms my heart that there are very nice comments and criticism has left which had no substance anyway. What I'm trying to say is a nod to the brilliance and a nod to the character of him.

Rhizophagous

I offered access to a certain GM just for an opinion or Idea. Maybe he is very busy. So perhaps I have to get approval from each and every interesting game . I've never seen anything like these before. English chess should be all over this, maybe this project will not get going. Great to hear about the games played I know and read that you will never forget them. What memories. Take care and thanks for remembering Anthony Miles.

Well that was supposed to be my last comment but I have had an email asking did I not know some of the history of TM. Well of course I do and the reason for respect and privacy. Yes I know a lot of you know his personal life but I didn't want to add to it only talk about chess. I can understand that people wonder what am I doing with these items well take a guess but I am not going into it but if I was given them personally, own them and the only thing I possess of his then say no more and let it go please. Yes maybe that is why English chess don't reply or certain FIDE don't either there is a lot of friendly games in there but as I said before so what If "you" had a lose this is an important detailed description, analysis of historical meaning for the English chess game. I don't want to hear about what is passed and documented online or between GMs forget that ffs Tony changed the game himself to going against the grain and played flawlessly when playing more traditional chess. If this is still about anything still on peoples minds then I will give them away to be published for free online with no interaction from myself 😉 and that is what I'll stick to. But, what about a professional production for very little as I will NOT take one pence/cent from anyone. Just let us have the cost of the project and okay a reasonable markup for the chaps that bring it to market. Online and free is okay but it deserves to be in copy. My last comment period. If anyone has played or knows TM up to you just keep it to the game we love. Please again yes I know everything about uncle Tony's history and it doesn't need to be rehashed material again. Peace out. One last edit... I've contacted people that should be interested, I've contacted individuals and softly trolled players. I'm sorry I think this is dead but for the prayers that realize what this could be, sounds like you are right. At least I can enjoy it and maybe one day the next big story will see daylight.

Never say never. Does it really have to take a GM that I reached out to verified me with a question that I or someone who was there long time ago would know. I shared what was written by Tony Miles about this person that doesn't want to be publicly named atm and well he was really impressed. The GM asked me about the person who accompanied Tony at a certain tournament. It was a different time any information was gleaned and I passed the test. I've been given some advice. I even did something that I said I would never do and offered the material to this person just to get it done. That's not going to happen but the respect I received when the respect should of all come from me was heartwarming. Time frame for answers and project status 3 months. I'm optimistic but stoked at any prospect also the correspondence. Watch this space. Satire: thanks for all your help English chess 🤔
