Similar thing here. I was addicted to blitz, realized that my blitz play was a good as could be without a better understanding of the game, so vowed to start playing long games online again.
The joy of the long game is not to be underestimated, now I find blitz to be a cheap thrill comparitivly.
a fellow moved in to the building where i live, a seinfeldian character who is also a great chess aficionado. the last couple of weeks we have spent hours in my room playing games without a time limit. This comes as a revelation to me since i have been addicted to 5 minute blitz for some time. The long game is a wondertful thing. One takes the time to really see the variations in your mind. Ive won and lost some with him, and overall he is ahead in the win department. But the long game for me is a beautiful rediscovery.
