The Matrix

I watched a film called The Matrix last night about a man called Neo who lives in a computer and who can be programmed to do stuff. What I don't get is, why didn't he download all the chess databases into his brain instead of Kung Fu? He would of been a top GM. Maybe even world champion !!!

I think, if I had a choice, I'd rather be able to kick ass than win at chess.

EvilVeganPeacenik

He could have been a world champion kung fu chessmaster!

DrSpudnik

The whole point of the movie was that he had to "save humanity" from their robotic overlords, not sit around wasting time playing a game.

kleelof

There's no room here for logic Dr..

Mika_Rao

Well... technically he saved humanity by sitting around and kicking ass at a game.

Yeah yeah, but why didn't he become a chess grandmaster?

There is nothing like a mawashi-geri whilst doing the fried liver attack. Your opponent will be puzzled, dazed and confused ...

DrSpudnik

They were probably dazed and confused when they started wandering into the Fried Liver.

Neo did not have a choice ... even a "free human" is programmed and thereby in a way unfree ... the difference is that the "free human" knows he is programmed and his "free will" is in line with the program ...
