Yeah! A lot of creativity is required before reaching the technical phase. My personal favorite player, Capablanca, was a master in playing the so-called non-technical endgame. Sadly, he got outplayed by Alekhine in technical endgames!

Gotta agree with you.
Going over and studying Capa's and Rubensteins endgames are a marvel to be held.

What you wrote - I agree. I especially like endgames when I have 2 bishops and my opponent has 1 bishop & 1 knight, and that's my only advantage. I like being able to squeeze a win out of that endgame.
Intriguing, though such a combination need not be an advantage :)

I wanted some opinions on what the most interesting thing in chess is to you. I, for one, prefer a well-played and subtle endgame. It reinvigorates the game for me.
