You know what is really funny about this?

Few years from now people will be calling this yellow sets "rare". If it is true that this is 1 run only and will never order this color again.

So, as a collectible it will increase in value after you done selling them, because there will not be more of them.

And the more people keep posting about them the more collectible they become...

I probably should get me 1 just to brag about it 5 years down the road.

ding ding ding we have a winner!

My butters have shipped! \o/ I'm thinking for now I'll mix and match my "main" travel set...keep the black pieces from the new ultimate set but bring in the butters as the white pieces. This should be great, at least until the butters start rattling, but 🤞that won't be a problem.

My set came in last Friday (9/24).

Unpacked it Saturday and I must say, this thing is a beauty. So well made, so well weighted, it will absolutely become my carry around set for when I am out of the house. Have it set up right now on a green/white mousepad board and it looks magnificent.

Now to purchase a good carry bag for pieces and board.

Will likely grab a deluxe bag with shoulder strap from ACE.

I wonder what the count of remaining Buttah sets is today?

18 sets sir!

I would have purchased some but understandably,
freight is prohibitive for a reasonably cheap set. USA customers …lap it up. 👍

Funny how the secondary market will price these butters once ACE is sold out of this set.

Hey, when did this happen?

Hahaha, did you check his Dad's store too?  They seemed to keep finding more as time when on...  wink.png

This happened when I got down to my last 60 or so and my pops bought all of them.  I am a wholesale person....

Might have someone looking for us to do the Ultimates in Yellow in V.3.  Working on pricing right now.

thanks

So, what do you guys think?  Should we bring the Ultimates V.3 back in the BUTTER color?

Seems like demand is there...but I would LOVE to get your opinions on this.  The only people out there with the Butters (V.2) in stock is the Rochester Chess Center.  They are down to 16 of them.

I am torn...people wanted to "tar and feather" me for bringing them out in the V.2.  Now since Twitch and YouTube streamers are using them for their live play...people want the Butter.  They do show up VERY well on the videos.

My problem is I want to keep the customers happy yet still have a product that turns over and I can make money on.  My MINIMUM order is 2000 units.

All thoughts welcome.

YES. As I exclaimed in the other thread a couple weeks ago, I would absolutely buy another set of V3 ultimates in butter. Make it so!

Pawnerai

@ShelbyLohrman

Keep in mind that you sold a bunch of V2 Butters in the past year when customers believed the remaining stock was the last of it, never to be seen again.

If the Butters come back as a regularly stocked item:

A)  There won't be that "FOMO" (fear of missing out) push to bank on.

B)  There is now an alternative V3 White set that will compete for sales. The V2 Butter had no alternative. It was either V2 Butter or nothing.

C)  Most everyone that wanted a Butter set, now has a Butter set. And these things are virtually indestructible. LOL

PS. On a side-note, any word on allotting me some time on the mousepad printer for a test print of that borderless Red&Black? I haven't heard back from you for months sad.png

Here's a novel thought...

How about V3 in the ORIGINAL color of V1 (i.e., NOT appliance white!).

My "new" butter set definitely has weights rattling around and it's a rattle cacophony in coffee chess when butters are in play, so I definitely think there is some room in the marketplace for V3 butters. You might be totally right with points A and B, though...glad I don't have to worry about it. I just plop my money down when they're available. grin.png

I would absolutely buy version 3 ultimates in the original pale yellow.  Butter yellow is a definite NO.  I guess I'm in the minority regarding the appliance white--a perfectly designed set but dislike pure white contrast with  most board colors.

ShelbyLohrman

When I said never to be seen again I did not know of someone coming to me offering to buy 2000 sets in the yellow in V.3.  Sort of hard to turn that down.

People went from hating the set to me getting calls 2-3 times a week on people asking if we are going to make the V.3 in Butter.

Honestly, I am still on the wall on this.  People here are my perfect sounding ground for questions like this.

I am going to think about this over the weekend.  Should have a decision next Wed or so.

Can someone differentiate the V2 and V3 sets for me, please? Because, well, I love my Butters, and while I don't need another set, I'm not gonna lie about not wanting another set especially if they're different enough to tell apart. Plus, I made some new friends this last weekend at a 3+2 tournament (my first OTB tournament ever; I got absolutely slaughtered) because the Butters play FAST. I mean, I knew they were stable in principle, but 15|10 is the shortest control I normally play and they were very satisfying in practice. Only one opponent recognized them, exclaiming, "OH! Are these BUTTERS?!?" followed by ooh-ing and ah-ing but that got other folks' attention, so, y'know, they're known and there's interest. Can't promise how much interest, but it's there.
