The Old Benoni

What are the main plans of the Old Benoni and what are some of the lines. I want to learn a new d4 opening since all I know at the moment is the Dutch defense which brings about highly specific positions. . .I want to get a variety of positions and I don't think that the Dutch really offers that. Does anyone think the Dutch DOES offer a variety of positions and if not does the Benoni/Old Benoni allow a variety of positions?

Well #1 the dutch is bad #2 the old Benoni is bad so play: Any Slav, King's Indian, Nimzo Indian, QGA,QGD, The Modern Benoni, Grunfield.

The main plan of the benoni is to get a strategically lost position in all 3 areas of the board, but come up with creative and deep tactics to save yourself... good luck lol

I don't know the dutch, but it doesn't seem to offer much variety. Nimzo and slav do for sure. QGD/A not as much I think, but still very good positions of course.

Alright, guess I'll finally play a d4 d5 opening. I should probably do that for e4 too, now that I slightly know the Ruy Lopez

Play the Nimzo-indian, really straightforward, it is also said that its the strongest reply to d4!

yeah I hate to break it too you but there is no strongest reply to d4. @jengaias I agree you need more than one system after all Nc3 is not forced but the QGD is not the only good system for black. the Queen's Indian is fine, The Bogo Indian is fine and the benoni are all fine for black.
