The reverse troll

One time i had offered a draw in a position that probably was lost for me, but then the guy blundered after declining! Anyone had something like this? (This is a little off-topic i guess)

ohsnapzbrah

Well, his online blitz rating has never gotten higher than 1450, so we ca assume he doesn't get the chance to do it much

Yeah.

Ya' can't troll in reverse.  Your lines will get all tangled up in the prop.

boblewo

This sounds just too pretentious.

Remember, can always be you in the other side of the board..

Zebra_Attack

grant the type of guy to do dishes while waiting for the next move 4d chess

I’m actually on board with OP on this one. Nothing wrong with his beahvior, his opponent can resign at any time

Glad you agree with this post from 2012...

Wowie, you seem like a fun partygoer.

I'm sure we've all had our fair share of opponents who love to disconnect while in a hopelessly lost position. So, sometimes for fun I like to do the opposite.

If I am playing live chess and winning very badly (usual scenario is something like: opponent only has king, I have 3-4 passed pawns and a rook or so), sometimes I needlessly prolong mate. I'll give myself a few extra rooks, maybe a bishop. Then, I tease a little in the chatbox, announce my intention to leave the game running for 4-5 minutes or so while I do a few chores around the house.

Thoughts? So far I haven't actually run out of time myself, although it could definately happen if the dishes take too long to do. Maybe I just have a weird sense of humour.

You're not weird, you're having what Chess.com fears is an ironic sense of humor that parallels with today's society. Congrats, you're sane.

Juvenile? yeah, I can see why you might think that.

Inappropriate? Naw, I'm not forcing anybody to play with me. You can resign at any time, I fail to see how its inappropriate apart from being offensive :P

or even better...  add u to the do not play list happy.png

Here's when the reverse troll thing is appropriate:

It's a daily game.  Your opponent is down material  -7 but won't resign.  He plays a move like in 1 minute every time you make a move.  He expects you to chase him around the board for hours while he hopes for stalemate.  So you slow the game down.  You play one move in 24 hours just as your game rules allow.  Let him enjoy his loss over days if he really insists on continuing to play.

One time I bit into a scoop of ice cream, but it was really a scoop of butter!
