I don't know how you define subconscious, but I believe intuition based on previous positions plays a part in calculating a given move....
Gnawing doubt and confidence may both come as a result of being in positions that in the past were tough or easy to deal with, respectively....

How much of the subconscious is involved in player's final decision to make a move. Is it your subconscious that plants that gnawing doubt in your mind concerning a move that apperas good as far as you can see. Bobby said he didnt believe in hocus pocus he believed in good moves. Is the subconscious hocus pocus? What do u think Joe?
