The Truth

Guys, this forum will be about the bitter truth, about the trolls ,Chess.com and all. Even though now the people will feel like i am abusing somebody i am going to tell you THE TRUTH.

We all know Chess.com is a place for learning, playing and studying the game of CHESS. But nowadays, many people are focused on memes, views, followers, forums and blogs that are not related to chess. By this , I am not saying you should not chat , I am saying you should chat but please do it privately.

THE TROLLS

Nowadays , people are complaining about trolls in forums , cheating in games , spamming in chats , impersonating etc.  Their main job is to trouble you . But if you do thigs like blocking forum notifs in your club or so , then you will not be troubled by any troll or anything else.

If you think somone is playing unfair, no need to create a big fuss about it on the forum . Just block and report them , be like Kramnikgold. Okay jokes aside, if people are spam reporting then just report to any staff member you find.

This is the reason why i deleted my bio, just to play and focus on chess as that is what the platform is made for.

Hi @AarinBasu,

You’ve brought up some important points here. Chess.com is indeed a platform designed for learning, playing, and appreciating the game, and it’s unfortunate when unrelated distractions or negative behaviour take away from that experience.

Regarding trolls, I completely agree that blocking, reporting, and moving on is the most effective approach. Engaging with them usually just feeds the behaviour. It’s also good to know that Chess.com staff are responsive to serious issues, so reporting to them is a reliable way to handle things like impersonation or spam reports.

As for off-topic forums and blogs, I think it’s a balance. While some enjoy chess-focused content, others find community and engagement through lighter discussions. That said, it’s up to the individual to choose how they want to interact with the platform, and tools like turning off notifications or limiting interactions can help keep the focus on chess.

It’s clear you’re passionate about keeping Chess.com a great place for chess, and I appreciate you sharing your thoughts! Hopefully, we can all work towards making it a more positive environment.

Chess.com is a business. Sure, it was/is mainly a chess site but from a smart business viewpoint it makes sense to be fun for as high a % as possible. If this site were very strict and only allowed chess (stopping most of their forums) then a lot of members who like to goof off on here wouldn't come back and their membership would decrease resulting in less advertisers and membership fees. In short, they'd make less money.
