From what I understand the use of a database for openings is allowed.
The Use of Chess Opening App to aid play of openings in online chess?

Fritz is a problem because of the "cloud" connection it has with it's database. Computer engine help is forbidden and Fritz has entered a decidedly grey area. If your app is just based on actual game play from databases, then there should be no problem here. I'm assuming when you say "online", you're using Erik's unique term for correspondence chess and not talking about live games where, of course, no assistance is permitted.
Just wondering ( New Member Beginner) is the use of chess openings app to help with openings allowed on online chess here. Its basically just a database of openings with the different lines. Am confused is this considered the same as using (and therefore cheating) fritz ? Just looking for clarity on the matter . Thanks.
