Your thoughts?

SriyoTheGreat

Should I play it?

literallygigac
Yes yes yea yes yes it is completely lost for black after exf4

Your question is a bit like this:

The onion soup. Your thoughts? Should I eat it?

The Vienna gambit is an Okay opening. You can play it. Should you? I don't know.

It is very playable, but you need to be ready for black not to go down that line. It is one of my favourites, and can be very dominant and exciting
SriyoTheGreat

thank you for the tips

It's very difficult to play and maybe only suitable for 2300 FIDE + .. you might get some cheap wins against people who don't know to play ...d5.

hmmm

I generally like aggressive openings, I used to play the Kings Gambit, is this any better?

Awildcupcake

It depends on what you like. If you think that this opening suites you, play it!

I suggest you play some unrated games with this opening first though.

SriyoTheGreat

k sure, I'll think abt it

Providing you learn the responses to the main moves in some depth, and the alternatives for black, then it can be a powerful tool. But there’s (like any opening) an awful lot of theory to bite into if you want to understand it and have a high percentage of victory. At your rating, there are definitely simpler ones. Including system and semi-system openings with far less theory crunching.

But how about the onion soup? Heavy cheese on mine. It’s better than any gambit.

I will try this Vienna open. Looks slick.

The Vienna Gambit is often like a delayed King' Gambit. If you used to play the latter one, you can easily get into it.

Idk if it posted my game but been trying to understand it more.
