lol where they joking/? anyone would know this stuff.
The worst WCC coverage

Hey, at least this got mentioned in your country. My country is too obsessed with Miley and Bieber to even be aware that the game of chess exists.

I was going to post the same type of response.
Our country gives more coverage to poker.

Just to add something: 10 or more years ago the sports news were called "Šport in šah" meaning "Sports and chess". Nowadays it's only "Sports" and we get no news except from WCC matches.

Well, they said, along with stupidities abouth the third game, that the best Slovenian chess player Luka Lenič managed to defeat Fabiano Caruana in European Team Championship.

Dober dan!

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, or in Serbia, this match, as far as I know, was not mentioned in sport news. It is sad what happened to chess in former Yugoslavia...

The problem lies with the mainstream media in general. They seem to have no clue to the actual news that matter. Thirty years ago, one could read/watch about art exhibitions, scientific advancements (space exploration!), nature, history, current political events, etc. Today? Someone has a great ass, someone was shot or wounded, this celebrity is getting a divorce, "win" something in a lottery, a bomb exploded somewhere. WTF?
BBC's report stated that "the youngest World Champion ever was Anatoly Karpov, who was undefeated for a period of 13 years", but at least they did change that in a later update.

The globalists in control of the Mass-Media don't want people to be interested in smart things like chess.
That's why they neglect it and promote the "Mileys and the Biebers" instead.
I get all news I'm interested in from the internets so I have no clue how the coverage in german main-stream-media was.
Anand is the world champion for eight years, but if the 22-year old Norwegian wins, he (Carlsen) will become the twentieth World Champion in history.
Not to mention it was grammatically quite incorrect.
Well, who cares, really, whether the young guy comes from Danishland or Norwegislav? They should've gone with "22-year old from Coldistan vs. the Old Champion from Mangolassia", imo. :p

While Norway and India, as well as much of the other world enjoyed exquisite match coverage, Slovenia clearly had the worst.
Firstly, match was usually just briefly (10(!)-30 seconds, only today 58s) mentioned on the end of sports news.
Secondly, it was mentioned infrequently.
But the worst thing were awful misinformations given in these reports!
For example, Slovenian national television in the report after the third game renamed Magnus Carlsen to Magnuson Carloson and stated, that Anand had a full queen advantage, but blundered it in the time trouble before time control.?????
But this article, written by Slovenian Press Agency and sent to me by MSC157, really made me write this thread.
Here is the translation:
The result is now 4,5:2,5 in favour of the Danish master of black and white pieces. This match in Chennai, which has 2,5 dollars prize fund, will resume on Thursday.

One of the guys I was tweeting about the final match with said something odd. I posted Carlsen being low on time, he replied saying 'no, its anand almost out of time'.
I pasted a screenshot to him showing the clocks. After the game he told me the app he had to watch the match on had the clocks around the wrong way so he was seeing carlsens time on anands moves and vice versa. He didn't say what he was watching the match on though, he just said it was an app.

NewArdweaden, you have quite a decent score and could consider writing chess stories for your media. Surely you can do better than what you show above. You could do no worse.
Nice suggestion. His Slovene is perfect so no problems for him.

Probably he was following the match on official WCC Android app (which was really good). Such events occur quite regularly, especially on Chessdom.
