there needs to be a training mode.

I would like to see a option that highlights which of my pieces are threatend when I play or after my opponent plays.  A lot of times i miss the obvious moves when i play. this could help train me to see obvious moves. this should be in the chess live option when you play against other players.

Allowing computers to tell you that would be providing you with an unfair advantage. Next thing you'll want to know is when you have a mate in 1 or some other combination possible. (Why stop there?)

Your opponents provide that service for you free of charge. If you lose your queen 3 games in a row, you will start looking around when you move it.

It might be interesting to have options like this in unrated training games, although I would expect this to actually slow down your learning if you used it much. I'd be more interested in features like being able to review the game with the opponent and observers after it ends.

You can do that.  It's complicated but they do it all the time on chessTV.

Things like that sound good but I became a worse player when I ran out of real people to play and started using electronic games and computers. It just reinforces bad habits.
