Thinking when there's one legal move ....

I really don't understand why some players tend to waste minutes on their clock when they have only one legal move in the position....What the hell are they thinking about ? Or are they calculating some lines further after that particular move ? If that's the case isn't it wiser to just play the only possible legal move and then calculate whatever you want to rather than letting your own time go low..??

ikr thats so damn frustrating

Anonymous_Dragon

exactly...but there must be some reason

Maybe they're just frustrated, a bit shocked, because they haven't calculated that situation. At least that was my case sometimes 🙂

Hmm I see....but even if they are shocked...wasting minutes isn't wise....

You can expect everyone to act in a logical manner!

Some players even offer a draw when their opponents has a mate in one. Lol

When a person is drowning they will hold onto anything, even if it’s a straw. Maybe it’s the same logic if you’re about to be mated and you’re throwing anything you have left at that point, even a pathetic draw offer? A small chance of salvaging a draw is better than nothing, amirite?

Well, rip dignity. I could never muster the  shamelessness to offer a draw like that.

Idk about other people, but I like to think every move through before I play it - even if it’s forced

True. It’s etiquette and an unspoken rule among GMs that it’s embarrassing to be checkmated: one should resign in a hopeless situation to avoid wasting everyone’s time

I could be that shameless! Jk I just let my opponent mate me in middlegames positions (especially if they have a beautiful attack or combination) to give them the satisfaction of mating me. Lots of people complain about having to wait for mate, but, in my opinion, the occasional checkmate (aside from things like k v k+r) is quite satisfying.

Glad to see someone gets it.

You will think about the moves even if they are forced ? Amazing...
