apparently chess.com doesn't want anybody to know about lichess.org
i'll repeat what i posted earlier; it is a free site; simple, cool design, and no advertisements; you don't even have to register
other players are cool but we need more.
oh, and the forums at lichess aren't censored (except for spam)
good day,
see you there

So let me get this straight....
You are using a web site to advertise for a competitor's site. And not paying chess.com for your ad.
What make you different from a Spammer? And what is the difference between you and thief? None.
Barefoot_Player
the difference is, i'm not spamming; it's a single post
and i'm not advertising for $$; the site is free (and ad-free)
giving people better options is thievery?
hey spudnik, i'm from kansas city too
small world, eh.
you studied political science, you should know what i'm talking about
freedom of speech, democracy, etc. :)
if chess.com is secure in its position, ads and all, it shouldn't be afraid of a little competition

Freedom of speech has never been upheld in private, commercial space. Leafletting at malls or on private property is not considered free speech.
sure, they *can* regulate speech; but they do so at their own risk.
consider their consumer base exists on a voluntary basis; making the site a place of commercial rigidity and censorship will lose customers
i wonder why they deleted the original post then :)
several others in that thread disagreed with you;
however, to each his own tho; that's the brilliant thing about freedom

Keep It Clean
You may not post any offensive content on Chess.com including your username, avatar, or personal description. You may not add any offensive comments, chat, or other content. The following behavior is prohibited and can result in your being kicked or banned: cheating, using offensive/vulgar language, using toilet humor, making personal attacks, spamming or advertising competitive websites, religious or political debate, intentionally pointless/distracting posts, and discussion of illegal activities (drugs, etc).
You agreed to this when you created your account.
that is a *lot* of rules/limits on speech. not what I signed up for, and frankly it is unacceptable.
freedom vs advertisements and censorship. the choice for me is clear.
see you at lichess.
