This puzzle solution makes no sense.

'Medium' puzzle from another Chess website (thechesswebsite.com). Why on earth is the recommended move Queen to b8?? After queen to b8, the bot moves black bishop to a2. Black can instead win white's queen with the rook on rank 8, or black can win the knight on f3 with the pawn on g4. The goal is 'white: mate in 3'. Can someone provide a solution which doesn't rely on a bad move by the opponent?

It does make sence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it might actually be a brilliant move but after Rxb8, then Ne5 is threating 2 mates, Nxg4# and Nf7# and black has NO checks, he can't defend both threats either and the king can't move so white would have a winning positon. Ok so the bot played Ba2 to cover the f7 square so if white does not safe queen, after Ne5 he already has defended f7 so then Rb4 will defend the other threat so black would be winning. But after Ba2, we can simply take the rook and we are not only attacking the bishop now, but also threating an unstopable mate of Qh8# so that is why Qb8 wins the game for white!! I hope you find this clear and not so confusing wink.png.

Cool checkmate

The puzzle in chesswebsite.com says that its checkmate in 3 but it's actually checkmate in 4 because the rook never took the queen and instead move the bishop to e6 preventing your horse for mate.

Then White plays Qh2 and moves the king out of the way with mate
