This site has really bad sportmanship...

Whenever I am winning, people offer me a draw, sometimes twice in a row. Are people honestly so stupid that they think that I will accept?!

No-one ever accepts a draw when I offer it though. People are so selfish that they will try to win on time and get points that they don't deserve.

And everyone moves suspiciously quickly, and accurately too. I don't even know who is legit any more. I might as well just be playing a computer.

I love this site and its features, so I have no intention of leaving. But it really does have one of the worst communities I've ever seen. Why? It's just chess for crying out loud! How can I take it seriously when it's this bad?

They are just trying to draw.

It's part of the game

The anonomous nature of online play is the problem I think. Whenever I play in over the board tournaments, everyone is incredibly polite.

I can put up with it, but it's really sad that I'm forced to wrestle with a community I hate just to play my favourite hobby. Oh well.

It is only a sport. Get with it.

What's wrong with trying to win on time? It's part of the game.

I am always curious when someone says their opponents move 'suspiciously accurately'. How do you know? I assume you've analysed your games from the site fairly extensively with an engine? I know I wouldn't be comfortable labelling an opponent 'suspiciously accurate' under any other circumstances, and looking at your ratings I would say we are at broadly similar ability levels.

If you don't like people to win on time, then why do you play fast games?

Yes, I own an engine that I use to look through my games.

I play fast games occasionally, because I don't always have the time to play longer ones.

Ok. Sounds like there's some basis for your claim then. I have to say my experience of analysing my own blitz games on this site suggests that they're mostly riddled with simple blunders, both by myself and most opponents. Maybe I'm just luckier with the people I'm playing. I think there is a mechanism to report users who you suspect of cheating. Might be worth looking into, although I don't know how often people actually get banned for engine use.

I don't know. My rating in blitz generally goes between 2000 and 2100 - and my opponents are really not accurate, suspiciously or otherwise... :-)

They blunder like there's no tomorrow - both when they win and when they lose.
