There are 24 forums. 12 of them are dedicated to chess.
It actually is for playing chess, though. People are morons and jerks all over the world, not just on chess.com. It's not like any other site would be better, and the resources you get here trump just about any other site. Disable chat against all non-friends if it's really annoying you.

Just block chat, delete notes, block people and play chess.
I long since disabled chat in live chess.

I think those who do that are total chess posers and wannabes.... they get the small flicker of light that says- if you play chess... you are an intellectual and you are smart! Therefore, since I am smart and an intellectual.... I will learn how to play chess and then I can claim that yes- by virture of playing chess, I have validation that I am indeed an intellectual!
ie, those are the same people who might have read 1 book on any given topic and then suddenly, they are an expert on that topic.
Since we've just experienced the world's first ever 'internet forum generation', I'm hoping that those hateful posters soon begin to die out- figuratively, of course ;)- and humanity is restored with a better, 2nd gen of internet posters- and while we're at it.... I hope the 2nd gen loves chess in itself, not just as a vehicle to claim mental superiority to anyone who just doesn't care

What is more amusing are the people that still have not noticed that they can disable chat and block people.
