Time allowed per move

I started playing online chess because I just didn't have time to think through my moves when they all had to be completed inside 30 minutes. But does anyone really need 3 days (or, in some cases, I see, 5 or even 7 days) to make a move. I am particularly infuriated when an opponent takes the full 72 hours when he (she?) has only one move available. Henceforth I shall only enter team games with a 24 hour time limit.

Sometimes it just feels better to wait a little while for "inspiration" to strike :)

Busy day at work and just want to wind down in front of the tv?  Might lose a 1day/move game.

Heading out for the weekend?  Might lose a 2-3day/move game.

Not able to log on to the internet except for once a week at the library?  Might lose a 5day/move game.

There's lots of reasons that people will regularly need more than a day or two to make their moves.  But if you prefer to only play people that can log on everyday, then stick to the 1day/move games.  That's why they exist.  I, personally, don't mind if someone takes a couple weeks (or more) to make a move; I've got enough other games going that I might not even notice it.
