Time out protection

Hi!

Not because it bothers me a lot but it is a lttle bit confusing.

Several times I have been afraid (and yes, sometimes happy!) the other player will time out. But when reaching let us say "6 hours" the clock bounces back to "9 hours" and so on. I haven't seen any vacation notice just a clock that moves back.

Is it a premium feature. I must say I play only three or more days per move games, so it doen,t bother me it takes longer. I am just curiuos.

The time adjustments are common here and at all online chess sites because of lag adjustments. Everyone gets them, not just premium members.

Usually, they are just a few seconds added here and there.  I am very surprised to hear that they can be so large.

Thank you, notmtwain! I also thought it was lag adjustments but these were too long. Next time it happens I will ask the player to see if they are getting extra time or if it is just me getting a wrong indication.
