Time trouble?
You have a good score against me, and I've only played 3 games where time was added to the clock after a certain number of moves, so I'm not sure how relevant my suggestions are, but here they are anyway:
- If you calculate lines over and over you need to improve your calculation or confidence. I often go to chesstempo and try to be extremely disciplined in making sure that I follow a strict system such as the one Kotov describes in Think Like A Grandmaster.
- If you calculate too many different lines, it could be because you need to improve planning/positional play. There's not just one answer to this, but I suggest reading books or studying master games, especially ones with the same openings you play.
- If you are having trouble evaluating the positions at the end of your calculation, then.... I'm not sure. Haha. I'll have to think about it.
I agree that you should know all of your opening lines very well, or at least the ideas, so you shouldn't spend too much time in the first 10 or so moves. Also, in the middlegame, you don't have to spend too much time on every move. It's more likely you spend a lot of time on one move, and come up with a long term plan, and for the following moves, you already know your plan and you shouldn't take too long, other than to check for blunders and calculations.
It seems to me you need time for your preparations. If the response fits with your preparations then it cuts the time, you also need to review your preparations just in case you forgot them. Well no player can remember everything so you need to know the principles so that you can work things out in case you forget.

I'm sure many chessplayers can relate to this, when you spend so much time on one position and you find yourself rushing to make time control. This has been happening to me a lot, so I was wondering if anyone had tips to get better at it?
I've been playing a lot of blitz but that is mostly based on intuition. There are certain critical positions when so many moves are possible but I can't decide what to do and at the end of it all, I end up just overthinking it.
I've heard a lot of advice, like know your openings well so you don't spend time in the beginning, or treat it like a shorter time control game. The openings part works mainly, but not the second one.
