time used in the opening

usually if I play 2 hours game OTB and the first 7 moves are part of my pregame opening preparation I play the moves relatively fast (within 30 seconds). (more time for the endgame)

but does it actually make sense to waste time in order to make my opponent believe it isn't prepared. "Opening psychology?"
the reason for this is if my opponent plays something else on move 8 than I planned I start to think for 1-2 minutes to understand why this move wasn't part of my opening preparation. My opponent then start to think himself why I suddenly use more time than if I used 1-2 minutes on each move even the moves I prepared.-
My opponent might not get suspicious and use less time to think and therefore not find the best move.

Hmm....

Since its only up to move 7 I would just blitz it out. Its also a psychological blow to your opponent too, espcially when they play some dubious gambit and you have prepared against it......

Well... if you keep playing book moves I would just think that you needed some time to remember, not that you accidentally found a book move after forgetting the line completely.

Especially if it's a tactical line where memorization is almost necessary.  I wouldn't gamble on a trap thinking you've forgotten the line... if that's what you mean by this sort of psychology.

And to me, if you're taking around a minute per move I wouldn't be able to guess one way or another.  Some people take quite awhile on their planned moves.
