AGGGHHH I can't take it. You're not cool. You're just annoying.

For example: I recently was playing blitz and this person basically did whatever they could to make it difficult to actually engage the opponent-- creating super closed positions, castling queenside, making complicated positions where we both had multiple pieces focused on a square. They seemed to be just trying to win on time. It's like some people on here don't actually care if the way they are playing sucks all of the fun out the game for their opponent.

There are different styles of Chess. The same thing happens OTB.

I can't believe someone made it hard for you to win! What's wrong with these people?? It's as if THEY'RE trying to win the game too! Sheesh! And you're a Diamond member too! I really hope your opponent wasn't a freeloader; that would make it TWICE as bad!

They didn't make it hard they made it annoying. You missed my point. And I was gifted the diamond membership. I could care less if they are paying or not.

I'm talking about the people who think it's fun to frustrate and annoy and dominate people. Unfortunately, there are many. I haven't expereinced this in real life. It seems like it has something to do with the anonymity of the internet, people not recognizing there opponents full humanity, and lots of kids playing.

I mean that's like comparing someone who is blindly attacking pieces on every move to the attacking play of Kasparov. I've never experienced people playing the way they do on here in OTB. Do you really think there's no difference?

chess.com is a toxic place. it's frustrating.

If you're opponent is trying to win on time, play with increment.

This is exactly what we needed. An annoying troll to come and tell us that we are all terrible people. Good job.

I think different people play differently. If you play a sufficient number of people OTB you're going to get a lot of different styles and you need to be able to deal with all of them. So yes, there are some people that play very slow positional, lock up the position chess and let their opponent make the first mistake.

Anyone can play any style and it’s not toxic, it might be annoying if you can’t beat it, but that’s your own fault the other person is trying to win too.
SwordofSouls2023

It's something called pressure: it happens all the time, you're opponent starts squeezing you until you crack under and lose
