Too much game hard to play and be focus

I'm also playing more or less around 35-45 games. It is difficult to concentrate on. To play better chess we need to reduce the number of simulatneous games to less 15. But some people play thousands of chess games at a time.

Most of the rated players here at Chess.com play only a few games at a time.

The best way to improve is to play fewer games and increase one's endgame
study, but most of us don't want to do that as it can be tedious.

Different strokes...

I find if I have too few games, I get impatient, and blunder. If I have a whole list of moves waiting, I get in the groove, and play better. 40 is a good number fo me.

There are few chess crazy people above 1750+ playing thousands of game. But above 2500+ almost all the players play less than 10 games simulatenously.

Playing a single game at a time will not help to learn anything. In order to try out even 10 different opening, it will take a lots of time. It is better to keep the number small enough not to be burdened and keep large enough so we could learn many openings, concentrate on few end-games etc.

I dont often reach the endgame where precise technique is required to draw or win. It is mostly technical formality in the end-game for a draw or win. Very rarely I get an opportunity in endgame where I need to try my best to maximize the result. Hence less than 5 games definitely not going to help me. For me I think 20-30 games is optimal. The optimal number may slightly vary between people.

196 games currently going i think :)

better for me to keep the number down, I start to confuse the games with each other

I've got 45 on the go. It's too many. I need to get below 20, I think, so that I can spend more of my chess time studying and practising.

Tournaments are addictive though, and I find it so hard to turn down invitations Wink

But I'm going to bite the bullet, and withdraw from an upcoming tournament which would mean 10 extra games.

Wish me luck Smile

In my opinion that's too many. I play 10-15, but would like to get that number down to between 5-8 games. My point is I play regularly with a guy OTB who also happens to play on this site. He normally gives me quality games OTB, yet when I joined this and we started playing correspondence it seems as if I was playing a much weaker opponent than him. He currently has 30-35 games going, which I believe factors into his play. Confusing games or simply pushing wood (Mouseclicker) whatever you call it. As the old saying goes quality over quantity.
