 Nigel Short must be on the list for his silly bragging about sleeping with another chess player's girlfriend. And if I recall the story correctly, Short said this in a eulogy-type article after the player had died.

Fischer again, for his silly crying about grandmaster draws being a Soviet conspiracy against him! I actually believed this one when I was told about it, that is, until I started paying attention to chess tournaments.

The two chess players involved in the recent Largest Simul Record. I believe one was from Israel and the other from Iran, and they had both had opponents in the simuls who didn't even know how to play chess! Pretty silly
