A breathing procedure mentioned by Estragon is most important in OTB tournaments and CC as well. I remember a photo where Kramnik's refrigerator full of salmon fish, nothing else! Estragon's all advice is very valuable mixing with the studying chess by books and with a coach.
A random tidbit I recall from an Interview with GM Walter Browne many years ago: He offered to buy any tnmt opponent a full steak dinner an hour or so before their game started. The serious point he was trying to make (somewhat facetiously) is to avoid eating big heavy meals a few hrs or so (at least) before a tnmt game.
I'd also avoid playing blitz games in between or before tnmt games, it's a really bad idea (unless you're playing in a blitz tnmt I suppose)
Finally I'd suggest making some sort of physical fitness part of your chess regime, at least 30 minutes daily or every other day of aerobics, yoga, weight lifting, swimming or whatever else you like doing - even walking for 30 minutes daily is way better than not doing anything physical at all.
Do you guys now any tournamen tips, i am going to do my first tournament :-P
