it probably is best to do so
Tournaments

Well tournaments are generally suited for all skill levels. Some are open tournaments and have high rated players, and some have rating caps where players can't be above a certain level and join. If your are nervous about playing in a tournament, find one that has a rating cap near you level.

I was just thinking everybody else on your team would gripe, but's I guess it's their fault for sending invites.

Hey, you still haven't answered my question. You say you don't like chess and this site and yet you're constantly asking questions like this on the forums...

This was posted a couple days ago, and besides it's none of your damn business. If you don't like it don't read my posts.

As I've already told you I never said I didn't like it. I'm just puzzled. I mean who says they don't like chess and this site and yet are constantly back on this site asking questions about chess? If I were to say something like that I'd expect people to ask the same question...

I said that was posted a couple days ago, can't you read? What's it to you anyway?

If you mean you posted your answer a couple of days ago, no you didn't. If you mean you posted that you dislike chess and this site a couple of days ago, that doesn't make it now somehow irrelevant.
What's it to you anyway?
What's that supposed to mean? I saw that your post was rather strange to say the least, so I brought it up. That's what people do on forums. If you don't like people questioning stuff like that then don't post it.

Where does "And this site" come from anyway.
Here's your post again: "Chess just ain't my thing. I don't particularity like it. I'm wasting my time on this site. I regret getting an annual membership. By the way, your post doesn't make a lot of sense."

I said this thread here was posted before I said that. THIS ONE. This one was posted before I said that. How plain do I have to make it?

OK, my bad. I take it you'll be leaving this site now then.

It's none of your damn buisness what I do. I'm paid up till April, and if you don't like it stop reading my posts. Bother me again, and you're blocked.

So, basically you've gone back to your same old arguments even though I've already answered all of them. Nice.
And I think it's awesome how people round here think their "threats" of blocking someone actually mean anything. Well there's no need anyway, I can't imagine I'll be coming back to your threads again. Enjoy spending your time on something you hate.

I entered my first tournament here just a couple of weeks ago. It was a thematic tournament based on the Nimzo-Indian. Being new to the site, I was bumped up a bracket by a lame win right before the tournament started (The guy I played resigned after a few moves). Being a novice, I found myself playing ten games at the same time; playing against stronger competition than I had expected; and all of this compounded more by an opening set of moves I had no idea about. I have to say it was a bit overwhelming at first for me.
With all of that being said, I have to say that I became more comfortable as the games progressed. I have been getting kicked around a bit, but I have been able to learn a few things the past couple of weeks. I personally would recommend tournaments as a way to practice and improve. I hope you have success and fun in your future games!
Should tournaments be avoided until you learn to play at a certain level? I mean learn how to play through a game half way decently.
