A chess tournment is quite different from a single game event. It is possible that the first game you will be nervous. Try to play according your style and don't loose too much time thinking "what is the best move". Everybody makes mistakes, so you need only to play normal games. If you have a computer, before the second game you can analize the first one, and you will see that your opponent did some mistakes, and you also. This normally helps to relax. The rest of the tournment try to be concentrate on the single move, on the single plan and game. Do not think such as "I was a stupid doing like that...", it doesn't help. A way to prepare to a tournment is to read a book with GM games. Just try to enjoy and understand these games. After a while, you will play good moves and find them in an easy way. A last suggestion: if for example you think to have a performance of 1800 ELO, your target will be 1700 ELO. The more low is your target, the more easy will be to concentrate on the play (do not concentrate on the ELO performance). In my experience I did a tournment with a performance of 2200 ELO and the next tournment I played with 1800 ELO. It depends also on your opponent, so maybe sometime I was lucky, sometimes I had a very fighting opponent. Try to understand your mistakes and it will be more easy to enjoy.
