Some time if you have advantage over your oponant then it is better to play safe and get a win.
But if you take risks you need to think about all the moves to the mate and be sure you are right about it. This is also a problem for me because I think it could work but find hard to play it in my brain first. But some time you just have to gamble and see how it happens.
Just played an insteresting 15|10 game.
I'm rated just above 1000.
In winning position (up about a rook), first time I decided to try something complicated to see what happens, rather than to exchange and win smoothly.
However I failed and wrecked my position. In later review the ios app show I was still up about 2 pawns, but the position seemed unplayable and soon I was irretrievably losing. Besides, the previous try took so much time and I had only a few minutes left.
To make the try worthy, I decided not to resign, until my opponent mated my lone king with his knight, bishop, and a promoted queen.
