Disconnections can happen. Here's a good article:
Trouble in Paradise
I think I know the player you are referring to. One thing to remember is some countries have a harder time staying connected. In China for example, I can play games without any problems one day and then barely be able to connect the next. Today I planned on playing some games but after a few moves, there was a lag and then eventually I was disconnected.
You are bound to be in a winning position sometimes, but this doesn't mean it is the fault of the opponent. My theory is that, for me being in China, they are able to track packets I send. When I make a move it may come off as a message being sent. China is very cautious of messaging services outside of China. Even in this forum, if I post too often I sometimes get a 502 error in my browser. Yet, if I wait a bit it clears up. I could do the same on a Chinese site with zero problems.
So, I suspect the same with this person you played. The country they are in is probably also monitoring things and not recognizing moves are being made but rather simply small amounts of data being sent on a regular basis which could be chat. Around April 19, China blocked my access to some sites I visited without problems in the past few years. It has been 4 days now, and I still don't have access. Usually this happens during special holidays or when countries come to Beijing to meet, like with the APEC conference in November. Then they allow more internet access.
Hey guys,
I am very new to this website, and have been enjoying myself with no problems of any kind(except for the occasional time-waster), but recently I played a game and got disconnected from chess.com.
I tried to reconnect several times, before trying to reconnect on a different machine with a different internet connection.
Without mentioning names unnecessarily, I checked my opponents profile and have seen that he rarely loses, and has had his opponents resign in winning positions before.
Is there a known problem with either the servers, or malicious behaviour of this kind?
Perhaps I'm reading far too much into it, but a response of any kind would be welcomed.
Thanks community!
