Trouble with Minor Middle Mates

  • #1

While practicing tactics, I’ve noticed that I have difficulty calculating checkmates in the middle of the board that involve multiple minor pieces. I need to make sure that the king and all 8 flight squares are either attacked or covered by enemy pieces. It’s tough keeping track of which squares are attacked and which aren’t. I tend to look at one of my pieces at a time. So when I’m looking at the squares attacked by my knight, I forget which squares are attacked by my bishop, and vice versa. Does anyone have any advice or tips?
