Thanks for letting me know the link didn't work. It had the words "a while" on the end. I have deleted them and now it works.

It was just a sample of what I tried and posted. I am looking for something to annotate games that is easier that what I have done.

But Denver, you can just add your comments after every move in the game editor in this site, after you put the game, you can put your comments in "comment after every move"

Ben_Dubuque

I think he has more fun doing it the other way.

I think what I want is an editor that I can put all my games into and not in to chess.com. I want my own stash.

NomadicKnight

To Denver: Sorry if you've already posted a report (not going to read through all 4 pages), but how goes the resolutions? Are you on track to accomplishing your goals?

I use Chessbase but I have seen people here recommending SCIDvsPC as a games database manager (it's free), maybe you would want to try it.

But there could be something else just to edit images that you would like.

I will add one more resolution:

4) I won't buy any chess book during 2014 (I have more than enough for all my life).

Today I bought 3 chess magazines.

I never said that I wouldn´t bought magazines. So I´ll have to add it:

5) I won´t buy any chess magazine during 2014.

By the way the magazines that I bought were:

1- Chess Life April 2003 "Match Karpov - Kasparov (Karpov won 2.5 - 1.5)"

2- Inside Chess Feb 1998 "Karpov Retains Fide Title"

3- Inside Chess April 1994 "Linares! Karpov´s Greatest Triumph"

Isn't it nice to read things that happened in Chess history written in the present tense?

I have some of chess magazines that I haven't openned in years. I will start getting rid of all my old stuff.

I will look for an editor.

Bye for now

Have you tried cooking gomae?

I used to enjoy Ballroom dancing, and my bowling approach was helped with balance. I also dance the Bop, the twist, but ballet in tights like the football player Joe Nameth did is out of the Question. Yoga helps.

Fred Flinstone was a cartoon and he tiptoed when he bowled.

What is the world is GOMAE?

Thanks for the comment.

My Resolutions for the whole year:

1. On every on-line game I will analyse before making the move no matter what.

2. I will not add any more games until I finish all the 16 current ones.

"Those two are realistic and I know I can apply them"

My short term goals with training:

1st. Will attempt to raise my chess rating to 1650.

I think that will take some hard work, and a change in my         playing style

2nd. I will raise my bowling average to 190 before April 15, 2014.  That's when the averages are turned in and USA taxes.

That will also take some hard work and a change in my             delivery style and a lot of focus.

3rd. Learn how to cook Plant based meals.

I gave up all dairy and cheese, red meat, chicken, fish and anything that had a mother, had eyes or moved around and its own.  So it is more Vegan not vegetarian. Got any suggestions?

Cooking will take a lot of effort especially since I'm                  used to eating all my meals in a restaurant.

What are yours, if you're making any for 2014?

How can you have proper time to analyze each move when you have so many games going on?

I only have six games going on. They are all 3 days time to respond with a move.

I am retired and I have all the time in the world, besides my bowling, college, eating out, movies, dating women, sleeping, playing my guitar, teaching a kids chess club, and family life. I have time!

I found a simple program to create chess databases or play against the computer (it has some engines pre-loaded):

The Tarrasch Chess GUI

Tarrasch is a simple computerized chess workbench. Use it to play against the computer, analyze positions, create and edit chess documents.

Tarrasch is intended to be simpler than any other chess GUI to use. Tarrasch doesn't restrict your freedom. Move the pieces around the board, setup any position, start playing against the engine of your choice with either color from any position at any time. Change the clock settings at any time, go ahead, give yourself a nice time handicap against the engine! You can even set the clocks to be visible and running when you're not playing the engine, that way the GUI serves as a simple board, men and clocks for a game against a real human opponent.

You can see in this page:

http://www.triplehappy.com/downloads.html

and you can choose this option:

No install Tarrasch Chess GUI for Windows

then you will download this file:

http://triplehappy.com/downloads/portable-tarrasch-v2.02ar.zip

or you can do the usual way and install the program and choose (simplest way):

Socialista: Thanks for the link my friend. I will give it a shot.

Oops. I am slipping down instead of going up. Not doing too well on my goal.

Ben_Dubuque

On the bright side I am rebounding thanks to studying high level games and calculating which is something I admit I never used to do much

Don´t worry Denver, we still have many months ahead to pump up our ratings.

RichColorado

You are right Socialista. I went down 15 rating points because I lost to a lower rated player several days ago. I went down to 1571.

Today I won a lower rated player and went up to 1580. I guess every thing eventually balances out.

I should just play the best and hope for the best.

Thanks to this thread I avoided buying 4 or 5 books 2 weeks ago
