hello

so I lost because I ran out of time despite being ahead , so I hear that the other side has to have enough material for a checkmate , or else its a draw ?

so they had two pawns and I had two rooks ..was that sufficient for them to checkmate me ?

If opponent has 2 rooks and you have 2 pawns this is the most common checkmate style with 2 rooks

So the opponent gets you on one of the edges of the board and then plays that style of mate

Technically because the pawns can be promoted. Probable? No. Possible? If you blundered severely, maybe.

actually I was wrong and they only had one pawn while i had two rooks and one pawn..so I can't figure how I didnt get a draw ?

There's probably some weird positions where 2 pawns are winning against 2 rooks

Because no matter how unlikely, it's still possible for you to lose.

I was trying to create a position where it's lost with black to move but I couldn't. I can only find draws
