Unable to add friend

Hi All, I have recently added this app to both my IPad and android device. I'm trying to add my Dad as a friend and we have both sent friend requests to each other by username and email. when I click on the email to accept friend requests I am redirected to the site but can't see where to go from there. Do I need to upgrade for this privilege? My Dad has the same issue. I have checked messages etc. cheers Matt
