why does everyone above 1000 think that under 1000 players are horrible. sure, they are better than us, but we are not pieces of trash who blunder every 2 move and hang checkmate every 5.

we may not be the best but who agrees that we are not horrible, and they are falsely making fun of us and underestimating us

lot of cheaters and smurfs at 1000 too, and if thats bad not enough, then you have the stealth chess.com bots.

Yeah, I don't blunder that much. Some of my games have high accuracy (80% +) with more than 35 moves.

1000 rated players are typically pretty solid. They have a good fundamental understanding of pieceplay and central control, but might lack a sense of continuity in the position. I've seen 1000 rated players set up tactics only to forget their ideas and miscalculate pins and basic tactics. Misunderstanding the pawn structure and pawn breaks is common at 1000 too.

They aren't bad players; quite the contrary, 1000 elo is around 85th percentile in terms of chess.com's total playerbase. They're just unrefined.

As a 1900 rated player I can also tell you, we are all horrible xD

As a 2000 rated rapid player I can also tell you, we all are horrible happy.png
Almost every single game I play is decided on tactics.
I have played a lot of daily games against a 1000 rated friend of mine and his chess level is higher than I expected at first. He just doesn't seem to find any plans and it makes his pieces get bad harmony.
I think this is exactly what a 2200 rated player would say about me too.

I've had quite a few people say I should be around 1200 at least, and one even said I should be around 1500.

Unfortunately, my ability to plan ahead is not very good; nor is my ability to quickly improvise when things don't go as planned. Also, I have a hard time figuring out what to do in positions that are dead even, so I'm often left hoping my opponent does something stupid before I do. And even if my opponent does make a move that's not good, the chances of me seeing it are...not good.

If I could somehow resolve these problems, I would definitely be higher. But for now, I'll be here.

Higher-rated players forget their own struggles.

and also, some people say that <1000 should not even learn openings. how will you expand without repertoire. I am 400 and I know the RUY LOPEZ better than most of them.

I always thought an 800 rating was like you know how to move the pieces and don't blunder every single move. But I was sorely mistaken. I am sub 600 in every time control, sub 200 in bullet/blitz and routinely get kicked in the coglioni
