Undeserved win

Uncheck "Auto-Win on Time" in your Chess settings. That option will allow you to manually accept a win from an opponent's timeout without automatically doing so, should that better suit the circumstance.
Once the game has concluded, ratings will be adjusted, when enough moves have already been played. I haven't played a game after an opponent's time has expired so, I'm not sure if all time aspects become irrelevant or if your opponent can still use time against you.
From the FIDE laws of chess:
"6.10 . . . if a player does not complete the prescribed number of moves in the allotted time, the game is lost by the player."

A win on time is a legitimate win - equal to a win by checkmate or resignation.
I have won two turn-based games on the basis that the other player ran out of time, but I don't think this is very meaningful as time isn't really a factor when there are three days per move.
Is there a way for me not to gain credit for these wins in my rating, as I don't want my rating becoming unrealistically high and stopping me from getting games with people who are more likely of my standard?
