Unfair Time addition for opponent during blitz game

hello All....am just wondering if am the only person who have noticed this.
I was playing a 3 mins blitz with 0 added time extra.
I was surprised to see the system adding time to my opponent's time....when it should have run to zero....I saw it add 10/15 secs again and again. eventually I knew I had to mate other wise I would lose on time. I won. but it's baffling. thanks all.
