Unique chess pieces

Recieved the chess pieces shown below for Christmas - friend found them at a 2nd hand shop.  Non of the pieces are marked with any names or marks.  They are ceramic (plaster?)  Does anyone have any info on where these may have come from?

I've never see anything like that! It's a very valuable gift (but, given the appearance of that bishop, I guess it could be made in my country).

Are you sure they're ceramic?  They look like they might be made of a stone dust and resin composite.  Studio Anne Carlton (and I may not have spelled it correctly) is well known for their "theme" sets; this might be one of them.  Check to see if the initials SAC are on the base of them.  Cool set.
